The national table tennis team delegation departed yesterday afternoon for the Jordanian capital, Amman, to participate in the West Asia Table Tennis Championship, which runs from the 12th to the 19th of the current month. The tournament features more than 200 male and female players from 10 Asian countries. The delegation was seen off by Falhan Al-Otaibi, president of the federation’s board of directors.

The delegation is led by Assistant Secretary-General Ali Al-Dabban, with Nader Bahbahani serving as the team manager, alongside 27 male and female players.

For his part, Falhan Al-Otaibi praised the support of Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, and Bishr Abdullah, Acting Director General of the General Authority for Sports, for their continuous backing and commitment to overcoming all obstacles. Speaking to Al-Anbaa newspaper, he said: “We have greatly appreciated Dr. Al-Jalahma and Abdullah’s keen interest in supporting all table tennis national teams and their dedication to providing all necessary means to reach the highest levels.”

He expressed optimism that the “Blue Table Tennis Team” would reach the podium despite the tough competition and the circumstances the national teams have endured. He noted: “Training was halted for a considerable period due to the conditions prevailing in the region, as well as recent maintenance work at the training hall. However, in recent weeks, both the technical and administrative staff have worked diligently to prepare the team in the best possible manner through daily training sessions.”
