Al-Qattan to Al-Anba: 5 main departments at the Higher Institute of Energy and specializations that meet labor market needs

Abdullah Al-Rakan: Dr. Hamoud Al-Qattan, Director of the Higher Institute of Energy, confirmed that the institute offers a diverse range of majors and training programs that meet the needs of ministries, government entities, and the private sector, noting that its programs contribute to preparing qualified technical cadres for work in vital and specialized fields.

Al-Qattan explained, in a statement to “Al-Anbaa,” that the institute’s most prominent programs are the long-term programs (“full courses”), which last for two and a half years, after which graduates receive a training diploma. He pointed out that the nature of the majors combines theoretical and practical training in line with labor market needs.

He noted that the institute comprises five main scientific departments: the Chemical Operations Department, the Water Resources Department, the Electrical Networks Department, the Electrical Power Department, and the Mechanical Power Department, in addition to the General Materials Department, which serves as a supporting department.

He added that the institute’s outputs serve several government entities, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, as well as the needs of various entities and institutions in the private sector.

Al-Qattan outlined a number of specialties offered by the institute, including the operation of cooling water pumping stations, chemical treatment, maintenance of main substations, street lighting emergencies, and electrical installations, alongside other technical specialties that provide students with multiple options according to their interests, abilities, and labor market needs.

He emphasized that the diversity of programs and majors aims to provide trained technical cadres in fields required by the labor market, stressing the importance of students choosing their specialties in a way that aligns with future employment opportunities.

Al-Qattan addressed students with a message, saying: “If your beginning is a fire, your end will be bright. Choose wisely so you can look forward and secure the right jobs.”
