Interior Ministry Pursues Speeding Violators with Cameras Mounted on Bridges

Under the directives and supervision of Major General Ahmed Fahad Al-Azmi, Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, and led by Major General Rashid Hamoud Al-Hajri, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic, the Traffic Investigations Department, represented by the Security Control Department, launched an extensive security and traffic campaign on several highways and internal areas. The operation resulted in the impoundment of more than 49 vehicles at the Traffic Impoundment Yard, the issuance of 64 traffic violations under Article 207, the taking of legal measures against violators, the detention of one individual under precautionary detention, and the referral of a juvenile case to the Juvenile Prosecution.

A security source stated that several violations were recorded by mobile cameras and cameras mounted on overpasses located on highways. The campaign featured a field deployment of Traffic Investigation officers at various locations, with intensified monitoring, follow-up, and scrutiny of vehicles to detect violations that pose a danger to drivers and road users.

The source emphasized that the campaigns are not solely aimed at issuing violations, but also focus on security and preventive aspects by identifying and addressing dangerous behaviors before they lead to accidents. He noted that the General Directorate of Traffic continues to strengthen its field presence and enhance road monitoring.

These campaigns are part of the General Directorate of Traffic’s strategy to reinforce traffic discipline, reduce violations and behaviors that threaten public safety, and apply legal measures, including vehicle impoundment in cases that warrant such action.
