Trump: Instructed negotiators to demand Iran pay compensation to families of those killed by it over the past 50 years

President Donald Trump confirmed that he directed American negotiators to demand that Iran, in any future negotiations, pay compensation to the families of those it killed or injured over the past 50 years.

Trump stated in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social: “I have noticed that Iran’s representatives are demanding compensation for damages suffered during the five-month military conflict, which erupted due to our firm refusal to allow them to possess a nuclear weapon—an issue that has never been raised in any of our negotiations or meetings. Nevertheless, this is an interesting idea; I am now similarly demanding compensation from Iran for all individuals it killed or seriously injured through its bombs and numerous conflicts it is notorious for, including the families of the victims of the USS Cole and thousands of others who lost their lives in battles.”

He added: “Furthermore, compensation must be paid to the families of hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed by Iran over the past 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 people killed during the last five months. I have directed my representatives to raise this issue firmly in any future negotiations.”

In a subsequent post, Trump stated: “Regarding negotiations with Iran, it should be held responsible for the damages and deaths in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Gaza.”
