Al-Ajiri Scientific: Summer enters its final stages with the onset of the 'Kalebin' season tomorrow

The Al-Ajiri Scientific Center announced that summer is entering its final stages with the onset of the “Al-Kaleebin” season on August 11, which marks the last period of peak heat before the gradual transition toward milder weather and the beginning of the “Suhail” season.

In a press statement, the center explained that the “Al-Kaleebin” season lasts for 13 days and represents a transitional phase between the intensity of summer heat and the first appearance of the Suhail star, which is associated with gradual improvements in weather conditions.

The center noted that the season begins with rising temperatures and intense heat, accompanied by increased humidity levels. During this period, southerly and southeasterly winds influence weather patterns.

It added that winds known as “Samum” begin to subside during the Al-Kaleebin season, while the ground gradually cools. As the season nears its end, temperatures start to drop, and the weather becomes progressively milder.

The center clarified that the name “Al-Kaleebin” refers to two stars located within the constellation of Canis Major, known to astronomers. This period also sees a gradual increase in nighttime duration at the expense of daytime.

The onset of the “Al-Kaleebin” season on August 11, 2026, falls within the astronomical calculations and traditional seasons inherited in the Gulf region, serving as an indicator that the hottest phase of summer is nearing its end and that conditions are gradually shifting toward milder weather.
