The twin brothers Abdullah (7) and Obaid Al-Rifaidi Al-Ajmi have achieved an unprecedented feat in jiu-jitsu by competing in 16 consecutive matches and winning all of them by complete domination, without a single loss. This remarkable accomplishment was achieved within a record-breaking timeframe, as they won six gold medals in just six days. Their tally rose to nine gold medals over 20 days through participation in three world championships.

The twins secured three gold medals at the Grand Slam Istanbul World Championship, held on June 20, which featured participation from 70 countries. They then added three more gold medals at the AJP International Championship in Qatar on June 26, followed by another three gold medals at the AJP Championship in Kuwait on July 10. These results further affirm the prominence of Kuwaiti sports on the international stage.

Abdullah and Obaid Al-Ajmi are now preparing to compete in the Grappling Industries jiu-jitsu championship in Kuwait on the 21st, as well as the ADCC World Championship, scheduled for the first week of October next year, to continue their outstanding sporting achievements and proudly raise the name and flag of Kuwait.

Jiu-jitsu is an ancient Japanese martial art meaning “the gentle way” or “noble combat.” It relies on leveraging an athlete’s strength to take down opponents, focusing on ground fighting and submission techniques such as chokes and joint controls.
