Wafaa Mousallal: "Naya" is multi-talented and proud of it

Syrian actress Wafaa Moussalli expressed her admiration for a video that went viral on social media, in which her daughter, Naya Al-Andalus, performed a song by artist Georges Khazzar. Moussalli praised her daughter’s choice of song and her manner of delivery, stating that she had watched the video and was impressed, considering Naya’s selection of a Khazzar song to be apt. She also commended the spontaneity and simplicity of her performance.

According to the Fawasia website, Moussalli affirmed her pride in her daughter, noting that she sees her as multi-talented and that the public’s affection for her brings her great joy. She said, “Naya is multi-talented, and I am truly proud of her. When I feel and see the public’s love for her, it fills my heart with joy, God willing.”

For her part, Naya explained that she chose to perform Khazzar’s song in collaboration with her musician friend, George Atanas. She said the song attracted her because of its theme, which treats love in a gentle and comedic manner, and she believed these elements made it suitable for her to present in her own style. She noted that singing, for her, is more of a hobby than a professional endeavor, adding that she enjoys writing and composing songs from time to time and does not rule out releasing her own single in the future. However, she does not consider herself a singer in the professional sense.

Naya emphasized that she sees herself as more aligned with acting, hinting that singing, for her, is also linked to performance rather than relying solely on vocal techniques. She mentioned her love for jazz music and the works of the Rahbani brothers, noting that her musical choices are tied to songs that remind her of the good old days.
