Saudi Arabia: We welcome the UN Security Council statement and its condemnation of the terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom and commercial vessels

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed the Kingdom’s welcome for the statement issued by the members of the Security Council on Friday, August 7, 2026, which included condemnation of the missile attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as attacks on commercial vessels since July 22, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Kingdom appreciated the statement’s emphasis on the necessity of adhering to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, and respecting the sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen. It also welcomed the rejection of acts that threaten regional security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The Kingdom reiterated its call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions and to take a firm stance against practices and violations that threaten the security and stability of the region, the safety of navigation and international trade, and undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen and the region.

The Kingdom also reaffirmed its determination to safeguard its security and sovereignty, its right to defend itself, its citizens, its assets, and its facilities against any attack targeting them, and to take all necessary measures in accordance with international law.

It underscored its steadfast support for the legitimate Yemeni government and for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability in Yemen, thereby enhancing the security and stability of the region and safeguarding the safety of maritime navigation.
