Luca Zidan: From Granada to Leganés

Algerian international goalkeeper Luka Zidane, son of former French football star Zinedine Zidane, has moved from Granada to Spanish second-division rivals Leganes, as announced by both clubs. Leganes revealed they had signed the 28-year-old Algerian international on a one-year deal with an option to extend for an additional year. For his part, Granada stated that it had reached an “agreement to terminate the contractual relationship” with the player, after Zidane made only 45 appearances over two seasons with the Andalusian club without leaving a significant mark. The move to Leganes marks a new chapter in Zidane’s career in Spain’s second division, following previous stints with Racing Santander, Eibar, and Rayo Vallecano. Zidane played for Real Madrid’s reserve team after progressing through the youth ranks of the Madrid-based club, which he joined in 2004. He made his debut for Real Madrid’s first team in the final matchday of the 2017-2018 La Liga season. He was also the third-choice goalkeeper when the club won its 13th UEFA Champions League title in 2018.
