Cooperation Agreement between the Asian Olympic Council and the Caribbean Region

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed an agreement with the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) in Barcelona, Spain, to enhance sports cooperation between Asia and the Caribbean region. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the OCA, and Keith Joseph, President of CANOC. The pact provides for the exchange of expertise in organizing sporting events, athlete development, and leveraging sports knowledge, as well as the organization of joint scientific sports seminars and conferences between the two parties. The agreement will be valid for six years, from 2026 to 2032, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent of both parties. Sheikh Joaan, who also serves as President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, stated, “We will exchange information, knowledge, and expertise in the field of sports development.”
