The White House Meets with Barnett in Third Visit

Al-Kuwait’s first team will play its third friendly match at 1 p.m. today, facing English Championship side Barnsley during their training camp in the British capital, London, which runs until the 15th.

The “Whites” have already played two friendlies, losing consecutively to Milton Keynes Dons (0-1) and Portsmouth (0-2). Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos was keen to test as many players as possible in those matches, fielding more than 22 players in each game separately, in an effort to assess the squad’s readiness and finalize the ideal lineup ahead of the Premier League season, which kicks off on the 25th, with the draw taking place tomorrow evening, Monday.

Meanwhile, the board of directors of Al-Salmiya Club, chaired by Sheikh Turki Al-Yousef, has signed Gabonese international David Sambaissa, who joins from Turkish club Istanbulspor.

Sambaissa has joined Al-Salmiya’s training camp in the Turkish city of Izmit and is expected to be deployed by Bahraini coach Ali Ashour against Bahraini side Al-Khalidiya in the team’s third match on Thursday.

The Gabonese international boasts a solid career, having previously played for French club Bordeaux, Dutch side Twente, and Istanbulspor. He also represented France at various youth levels before switching allegiance to the senior Gabon national team, making his debut for the first team in Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

On another note, a delegation from Al-Nasr team departed for Egypt yesterday evening to hold a training camp until the 23rd. The delegation is headed by head of football affairs Asbih Al-Adwani, with Salem Al-Mutairi as his assistant.
