Kuwait Investment Company: 11.4 billion dinars in Kuwait Stock Exchange liquidity in the first seven months
A report prepared by the Investment Research Unit at Kuwait Investment Company, examining the performance of the Kuwait Stock Exchange and Gulf stock markets during July 2026 and the first seven months of the year, noted that July witnessed a relative easing of geopolitical tensions compared to previous periods, which contributed to improved investor sentiment, despite regional risks remaining a factor influencing liquidity flows and market trends. Gulf stock markets exhibited mixed performance during the month, with the financial results of listed companies serving as the primary driver for Gulf exchanges, particularly in the banking, telecommunications, and energy sectors.
The report stated that the total market capitalization of Gulf stock markets declined by approximately $2 billion in July 2026, ending the month at around $3.96 trillion, due to a drop of about $6 billion in the market capitalization of both the Dubai Financial Market and the Qatar Stock Exchange. In contrast, the Saudi stock market, the largest by market capitalization, rose by only about $4.5 billion, reaching a market value of $2.52 trillion.
Regarding the performance of the Kuwait Stock Exchange in the first seven months of 2026, the report pointed to a decline in trading liquidity resulting from some profit-taking activities, and warned investors about geopolitical developments and rising investment risks. Trading volume reached approximately KD 11.4 billion, a 24% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
Sector-wise, 30.7% of the Kuwait Stock Exchange’s total liquidity flowed to the banking sector, equivalent to KD 3.5 billion. Trading was concentrated in the shares of Kuwait Finance House, National Bank of Kuwait, and Boubyan Bank, with KD 1.36 billion, KD 929 million, and KD 293 million, respectively. Meanwhile, liquidity for financial services companies and real estate companies amounted to KD 3.1 billion and KD 1.9 billion, representing 27% and 16.6% of the total trading value on the Kuwait Stock Exchange.
