Soldier killed and two others injured after being targeted east of Deir ez-Zor

The Media and Communications Department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the death of one Syrian Arab Army soldier and the injury of two others after they were targeted in an ambush east of Deir ez-Zor. In a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) yesterday, the department clarified that the soldiers were ambushed by unknown assailants in the town of Jdeid Bakkar, east of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in the death of one and injuries to two others. SANA noted that a Syrian Arab Army soldier was killed on July 17 last year after being targeted in an ambush by unknown assailants in Al-Sa’ada village, south of Al-Hasakah Governorate. Meanwhile, relevant authorities reopened the earthen bridge over the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor to pedestrian and vehicle traffic yesterday, after it had been closed precautionarily due to rising water levels in the river. SANA reported that traffic resumed its normal flow on the bridge following its precautionary closure the previous night by the governorate’s emergency response committee, in order to ensure the safety of citizens and vehicles.
