Netherlands: Suspect arrested in Rotterdam following stabbing attacks

Dutch police announced that they arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of injuring two men after apparently stabbing several people at random in various locations across Rotterdam. Police stated that the first two stabbing incidents occurred around 9:30 a.m. local time yesterday, one on a residential street in the Spangen neighborhood, which is predominantly inhabited by working-class residents, and the other at Marconiplein square, an important transportation hub. Rotterdam police said in a statement on their official X account that “two men were randomly injured; one was taken to the hospital, while the other received treatment at the scene inside an ambulance.” About half an hour later, police received a report of a stabbing attempt on a pedestrian bridge near the Rotterdam The Hague Airport in the northwest of the city. Police noted that “the same suspect is likely behind the stabbing incidents and is believed to have traveled by car.” They added, “This 26-year-old man was arrested, and police are continuing their investigation.”
