Foreign Ministry Condemns the Blameworthy Iranian Attack on an ADNOC-Linked Tanker: A Threat to Maritime Navigation Security
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the culpable Iranian attack that targeted one of the tankers belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz. This act constitutes a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and poses a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, as well as to global energy supplies.
The Ministry emphasized the urgent need for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and for adherence to the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s rejection of any aggression against the security and safety of maritime navigation. The Ministry further affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates, and its support for all measures undertaken by the UAE to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and interests.
