Kuwait condemns the reprehensible Iranian attack on an ADNOC tanker: a direct threat to maritime navigation security

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the reprehensible Iranian attack that targeted one of the tankers belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, in a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and constituting a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and to global energy supplies. The Ministry stressed the necessity of an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and adherence to the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation, reaffirming Kuwait’s rejection of any attack on the security and safety of maritime navigation. The Ministry further affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with sister state the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures undertaken by the UAE to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and interests.
