The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation and denunciation of the targeting of an Emirati tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, affirming that these unacceptable attacks constitute an assault on the security and safety of maritime navigation and on the security of global energy supplies.
In a statement carried by the official news agency, WAM, the ministry emphasized that Iran’s continued perpetration of such attacks represents a serious violation of international laws and norms, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which guarantees freedom of navigation and safe passage through maritime corridors. The Kingdom held Iran accountable for the consequences of persisting in these brazen attacks, calling on Iran to immediately halt these violations to preserve the security, stability, and safety of the region.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its full solidarity with and support for the sister State of the United Arab Emirates in the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty and national assets.
Qatar also strongly condemned the Iranian attack on an Emirati tanker with a missile as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, deeming it a blatant violation of the rules of international law and freedom of maritime navigation, and a flagrant breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
In a statement carried by the official news agency, QNA, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm rejection of using the Strait of Hormuz as a leverage tool and called for its reopening without conditions, emphasizing that “freedom of navigation through this vital waterway is a firmly established principle that admits no compromise, and that continued closure of the strait jeopardizes the vital interests of regional countries and the global economy.”
The ministry stressed the necessity of “halting unjustified Iranian attacks on the property of sister states,” while simultaneously reaffirming Qatar’s full solidarity with and support for the United Arab Emirates in all measures it undertakes to protect its assets.
