Bahrain welcomes signing of Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense: Sadiq's address on safeguarding security and stability in the region and the world

On Friday, the Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its welcome for the signing of the “Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense” during the Mecca Summit on Joint Defense, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the three countries (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan) for their robust defense capabilities and long-standing military expertise, as well as their recognized roles in serving the security and stability of the region. It highlighted their reputation for honoring commitments and adhering to treaties.

The statement added that the agreement constitutes a strategic partnership among equal parties, each contributing its respective capacities, driven by a sincere commitment to safeguarding security and stability in the region and worldwide. This, it noted, provides a reservoir of confidence that enhances the agreement’s deterrent effect.

It commended the shared will to strengthen deterrence reflected in the agreement, describing it as a qualitative addition that complements the joint defense system of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, enhances its effectiveness, and contributes to consolidating regional security and stability on the foundations of solidarity, integration, and partnership among sister nations.

The ministry affirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an inseparable part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which supports all efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability, safeguarding the sovereignty of its states, protecting their territorial integrity and interests, and reinforcing political solutions as the means to address their issues.
