Smuggling of over 4,255 Captagon pills thwarted with a passenger arriving from Syria

Inspectors from the General Administration of Customs at Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 5 (T5), thanks to their vigilance and expertise in customs inspection and surveillance, foiled an attempt to smuggle 4,255 pills of the narcotic drug Captagon, which were in the possession of a passenger arriving from the Arab Republic of Syria on a flight operated by one of the airlines.

According to a statement issued by the Customs Authority, the seizure operation followed suspicions regarding the passenger’s luggage, which was subjected to thorough inspection procedures using screening equipment. The operation resulted in the discovery of three boxes containing Captagon pills hidden among the luggage in an attempt to conceal them from customs officers.

The statement said: “Immediate legal measures were taken, a seizure report was prepared, and the suspect and the seized items were referred to the General Administration for Combating Narcotics to complete the legal procedures against him in accordance with their jurisdiction.”

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its continued commitment to strengthening its regulatory and inspection systems and combating all attempts to smuggle prohibited items, thereby contributing to the protection of society’s security and safety.
