Ministry of Education renews contracts for 31,800 workers on the payroll
The Syrian Ministry of Education confirmed that the contracts of its employees were subject to new regulatory procedures after their expiration, clarifying that the matter does not involve terminating the services of staff from within the official establishment, but rather re-evaluating and renewing contracts in accordance with conditions and controls aimed at correcting the course and addressing previous violations.
Abdul Karim Al-Qadri, Director of Administrative Development at the Ministry of Education, stated in a remark published by the ministry on its social media accounts that 32,545 applications for contract renewal were received. Of these, 31,800 contracts were renewed after applicants met the required conditions, while some contracts were not renewed due to the applicants’ academic qualifications not matching the required specializations.
The ministry indicated that the new procedures included regulating the status of transferred staff, as employees who had been transferred were returned to their original places of employment after a surplus was identified at some of the locations to which they had been moved. This measure aims to achieve a balance in the distribution of personnel according to actual needs.
The ministry emphasized that the regularization of any contracted employee would only be carried out by presidential decree or in accordance with the provisions of the new Civil Service Law. It also noted the continued implementation of training plans aimed at enhancing the efficiency and improving the performance of teachers across various educational stages.
Last Wednesday, the Ministry of Education issued a directive to its directorates in the governorates ordering the payment of monthly salaries due for July and August to contracted employees in educational positions whose contracts were renewed under Decision No. 943/1843, as part of efforts to safeguard their financial rights and regularize their status in accordance with prevailing regulations.
