Turkish Presidency: Mecca Agreement does not target any country but will contribute to enhancing security and collective deterrence

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that the Mecca Agreement on Joint Defense, signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, “represents a historic step that will contribute to strengthening the security architecture in our region.” In a post on the X platform, he added: “We expect that the spirit of strategic cooperation established by this agreement in the security field will provide momentum for economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, finance, and investment.”

For his part, Burhanuddin Duran, Head of Communications at the Turkish Presidency, said that “the Mecca Agreement does not target any country, but will contribute to enhancing security and collective deterrence.” He regarded it as “a historic step toward strengthening our shared history and our firm will for solidarity, and anchoring it on a strategic foundation.”
