Saudi Crown Prince, Turkish President, and Pakistani Prime Minister Sign the "Mecca Joint Defense Agreement"

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the “Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense,” according to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Saudi media outlets.

A joint statement was issued following the Mecca Summit on Joint Defense among the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Turkey, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The statement, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), read: “In response to a gracious invitation from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 24/2/1448 AH, corresponding to 7/8/2026 AD. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the Turkish President and the Pakistani Prime Minister at the Royal Diwan in Al-Safa Palace in Mecca. The Mecca Summit on Joint Defense was held, during which the distinguished relations between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey, as well as several issues of common interest, were reviewed.

“Building on the deep historical ties among the three countries, the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and solidarity that unite them, and based on shared strategic interests and close defense cooperation, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the ‘Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense.’ This agreement reflects the three nations’ commitment to enhancing their collective security and achieving peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and worldwide, striving for a secure and thriving future. The agreement aims to strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression and stipulates that any armed attack on any of the three countries constitutes an attack on all of them. It also focuses on developing all aspects of defense cooperation among them.”

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the defense agreement signed in Mecca by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey reflects a shared commitment to enhancing security. It aims to promote peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond, emphasizing that any armed attack against any of the three countries is considered an attack on all of them.
