Bahrain Condemns Houthi Terrorist Attack on Civilians and Civilian Targets in Saudi Arabia

Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation today, Friday, of the heinous terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia using indiscriminate projectiles, which targeted civilian facilities and assets in the Najran region of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to several innocent civilians.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the incident as a serious escalation and a blatant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter.

The ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and vital civilian infrastructure. It also expressed its wishes for the swift recovery of all the injured.

Bahrain called for a firm international stance to hold the Iran-backed Houthi militia accountable, cut off its funding and arms supplies, and thereby contribute to the protection of civilians and the preservation of regional security and stability.

The ministry reiterated Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic, humanitarian, and developmental efforts led by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at achieving a comprehensive and political settlement to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the Gulf Initiative, its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, which safeguards Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and meets its people’s aspirations for security, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
