Minister of Education Issues Decision to Revoke the Educational License of the Private Iranian School and Close It

Alaa Khalifa: Kuwait’s Minister of Education, M. Syed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, issued a ministerial decision revoking the educational license granted to the private Iranian school in the State of Kuwait and ordering its closure.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Education said the decision comes within the framework of its legal and regulatory responsibilities, its commitment to safeguarding the public interest, and ensuring that educational institutions comply with prevailing laws and regulations. It was based on the provisions of laws and decisions governing private education, following a review of reports from the General Administration of Private Education and in light of what the public interest requires.

The ministry clarified that the decision stipulates the termination of the license renewal decision previously issued to the school and its closure, while entrusting the General Administration of Private Education to take the necessary measures to implement the decision. These measures include notifying the school to cease accepting new students starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, and informing the parents of currently enrolled students to take the necessary steps to transfer their children to other schools before the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, thereby ensuring their educational stability and preventing any disruption to their academic progress.

The ministry added that the decision also aligns with the application of laws and regulations governing the private education sector and reinforces the principle of adherence to regulatory controls, thereby protecting the public interest and ensuring the continuity of the educational process within approved legal frameworks.

It noted that the General Administration of Private Education will monitor the implementation of all measures outlined in the decision and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure a smooth transition of students to other schools, guaranteeing their continued education without any interruption or adverse impact on their academic journey.
