Frustration of an attempt to smuggle subsidized food supplies to Egypt

The General Administration of Customs announced that inspectors from the Salibya Customs Administration and the Al-Shabba Vegetable Market thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of various food supplies, which were hidden inside trucks bound for the Arab Republic of Egypt. It stated that the seizure followed customs inspection procedures applied to the trucks, where thorough inspections uncovered substantial amounts of diverse food items, in violation of applicable regulations and bylaws. Legal measures were taken against the offenders, and the case was referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary procedures. The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to tighten control at customs checkpoints and counter all smuggling attempts, thereby ensuring the protection of economic security, safeguarding the state’s resources, and enforcing laws and regulations with firmness.
