642.2 million dinars in weekly stock market gains

Kuwait’s stock market reflected a clear shift in investor appetite during this week’s trading, overcoming the period of anticipation and caution that had dominated the market in recent weeks amid geopolitical tensions linked to the US-Iran conflict. The market began to regain its gradual momentum, driven by improvements in key indicators and a return of capital gains and liquidity to more active levels.

The Kuwait Stock Exchange recorded capital market gains of 642.26 million dinars during the week, raising the market capitalization of listed shares to 53.058 billion dinars, up from 52.415 billion dinars the previous week, signaling renewed momentum in the shares of many leading and operational companies. Total traded liquidity reached approximately 362.97 million dinars, with a daily average of 72.5 million dinars over five trading sessions, reflecting a noticeable improvement in activity compared to previous quiet periods. This rise in liquidity is one of the most important indicators of the seriousness and sustainability of the upward trend.

Trading volumes totaled 1.286 billion shares executed across 89,876 deals, while the general index closed at 8,865.62 points, reflecting a broadening base of participation in trading and indicating that activity was not confined to a limited number of stocks.

This improvement came as concerns related to developments in the Gulf region receded somewhat, particularly with the calming of military events and discussions about the possibility of the Strait of Hormuz returning to normal operations. The results of listed companies for the first half of the year further bolstered this positive trend, as disclosures from several companies, especially banks, provided strong signs of continued profitability strength and the ability to achieve growth in operating revenues. This shifted focus back to the fundamental factors of companies after a period when external fears had overshadowed investors’ decisions.

The First Market captured the largest share of liquidity, with trading value reaching 242.138 million dinars, executed across 637.727 million shares through 46,309 deals. Its index closed at 9,296.33 points, confirming the continued focus of institutions and investment portfolios on leading stocks with the largest relative weight. The market capitalization of First Market companies rose by 381.158 million dinars to reach 43.986 billion dinars, compared to 43.605 billion dinars in the previous week, representing approximately 60% of the total capital gains achieved in the exchange. This highlights the pivotal role played by leading stocks, particularly banking stocks, in driving recent gains.

Conversely, the Main Market showed notable activity, supported by speculative momentum and position building. Traded liquidity in this market reached 120.838 million dinars, executed across 649.08 million shares through 43,567 deals, with the Main Market index closing at 9,003.95 points.
