US and British Foreign Ministers: Committed to Ensuring Safe Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband reaffirmed their countries’ shared commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US-British position came during a meeting between Rubio and Miliband on Wednesday at the US State Department headquarters in Washington, according to a statement by State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.

The statement noted that the two sides discussed “the importance of Europe playing a greater role in its own security.”

The two ministers reiterated, in the statement, their “shared commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” as well as “ensuring that Iran does not develop or acquire any nuclear weapons whatsoever.”
