Traffic Department: New 'Lost Plate Compensation' Service for Vehicle License Plates Coming Soon

A security source confirmed that the General Directorate of Traffic is currently putting the finishing touches on launching a new electronic service via the “Sahl” app, which will be added to the suite of electronic services provided by the Ministry. The service is dedicated to processing the issuance of replacement vehicle license plates for citizens and residents in cases of loss.

The source added that the new service will enable vehicle owners to submit applications electronically, without the need to visit traffic directorates in the initial phase. This will be done by uploading the required documents in PDF format through the app, completing the application procedures, and paying fees electronically. The Directorate will then review the data and verify that all conditions are met. Once the application is approved, applicants will be notified via the app to visit the license plate manufacturing facility to collect their new plates at a scheduled date and time. This initiative aims to streamline procedures, reduce processing times, alleviate congestion in customer halls, and achieve a higher level of government service quality.

The source emphasized that the launch of this service is part of a series of electronic services provided by the General Directorate of Traffic in recent years, which have significantly facilitated the completion of traffic-related transactions and enhanced rapid access to services without the hassle of waiting, in line with the Ministry of Interior’s vision for developing government performance and leveraging modern technologies.

In response to questions about some individuals’ inability to use or download the “Sahl” app, the source stated that the General Directorate of Traffic issues paper driving licenses and also provides booklets for those who prefer them, alongside making these documents available through both the “Sahl” and “Huwiyati” apps.
