Star player Neymar was involved in heated scenes after the final whistle, following his team Santos’ qualification for the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Cup. British news agency PA Media reported that videos showed the 34-year-old forward, who announced his retirement from international duty with the Brazil national team last month, provoking officials and players of Remo after Santos’ 1-0 victory on Tuesday night. The video shows Neymar directing remarks toward the Remo delegation near the locker room area, before Santos officials intervened to remove him. Afterwards, Neymar punched his chest, danced near the locker room door, waved his arms, and repeatedly said, “You’ve been eliminated.” Remo officials and players responded by attempting to push through the barriers separating the two sides, while Santos security personnel tried to restore calm and regain control of the situation. The fallout continued later, as Brazilian media quoted Remo club president Antonio Carlos Teixeira as saying, “That fool, who is emulated by many children, behaved like that here, then came to provoke us.” He added, “We were wrong to make someone like him a role model and object of admiration.”
