Al-Sarheed discusses Kuwait's participation in the Arab Para Games in Cairo 2027

The President of the Kuwaiti Paralympic Committee, Mansour Al-Sarheed, held a coordination meeting via video conferencing (Zoom) with Ehab Hassounen, President of the Arab Federation for Disabled Sports, to discuss Kuwait’s participation in the first Arab Paralympic Games, scheduled to be held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in January 2027.

The meeting reviewed the preliminary arrangements for the event and mechanisms for joint coordination, aiming to ensure a distinguished participation by Kuwaiti athletes in this historic Arab sporting event, which marks a milestone in the development of Paralympic sports in the region.

Hassounen emphasized that Cairo’s hosting of the Games reflects the growing interest in developing sports for persons with disabilities across the Arab world. He praised Kuwait’s pioneering role in supporting Paralympic sports and commended its continuous cooperation in ensuring the success of this major Arab gathering. He added, “This is the first event of its kind, held independently and exclusively for athletes with disabilities, whereas previous Arab Games were primarily organized for able-bodied athletes, with only a limited number of competitions for persons with disabilities included in their programs.”

He noted that dedicating an independent Arab Games to Paralympic sports represents a significant step toward enhancing attention for Paralympic champions, expanding the base of participation, and providing a specialized Arab platform that contributes to developing competitions and elevating the level of Paralympic sports across all Arab countries.
