Abdullah Al-Mutairi: Enhancing Joint Arab Cooperation in the Field of Tourism Security

The Director General of the Al-Jahra Governorate Security Directorate, Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Mutairi, emphasized the importance of enhancing joint Arab cooperation in the field of tourist security, as well as strengthening the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to combat crimes that threaten Arab tourist security.

This came in a statement he gave to KUNA while participating in the 12th Arab Conference of Tourist Security Officials, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Ministers of Interior Council in Tunis.

Brigadier General Al-Mutairi expressed the Ministry of Interior’s commitment and keenness to enhance joint Arab efforts, including those related to the security and prosperity of Arab tourism. For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab Ministers of Interior Council, Mohamed Kouman, called for leveraging modern technologies to bolster tourist security in Arab countries, in light of the digital revolution the world is witnessing and the growing reliance on artificial intelligence.

Kouman, in a speech during the opening of the 12th Arab Conference of Tourist Security Officials at the General Secretariat of the Arab Ministers of Interior Council in Tunis, also stressed the need to address the use of such technologies in threatening tourism and its security, and to exploit them to detect and combat tourist crimes. This is especially important given the significance of the tourism sector in the economies of Arab countries, the fragility of the tourism sector, and its prosperity depending on providing a suitable security climate. He underscored the importance of combating the theft and smuggling of Arab antiquities across borders, using appropriate means to counter these threats, and enhancing cooperation among various ministries, relevant authorities, and institutions engaged in joint Arab action.
