Announcement of the New Composition of the Engineers Qualification and Classification Council

Amir Zaki: Engineer Mohammed Al-Subaie, President of the Kuwait Engineers Association, affirmed the association’s commitment to cooperation and attracting all Kuwaiti engineering expertise and competencies from various sectors. He noted the completion of the reconstitution and the launch of the Council for Engineering Qualification and Classification for the 2026–2027 term, comprising a group of responsible professional engineering experts from different sectors.

Speaking at the council’s opening session, Al-Subaie said, “We have ensured the participation of engineering experts with high professional standards in responsible positions, to contribute with us in enhancing the council’s role in elevating the engineering profession.”

He added, “On this occasion, we reaffirm the council’s support for coordination with all relevant authorities to expand the accreditation, qualification, and classification of engineers working on state projects in particular, and the labor market in general. He pointed out that only a limited number of entities require engineer classification, and expressed hope for expanding the list of these entities to support the regulation of engineering practice decisions and systems, provide qualified engineering cadres, purify the labor market, and enhance professional performance.”

For his part, Council Chairman Engineer Rashid Hadi Al-Anzi expressed gratitude for the trust reposed by the Engineers Association Board of Directors in the new council composition. He emphasized that efforts would continue to elevate the accreditation, qualification, and classification of engineers to serve the engineering profession, the labor market, and the state’s directives to rely on Kuwaiti human resources in achieving the country’s development goals.

Al-Anzi clarified that the council approved its plan to enhance operations, noting the adoption of adding a committee specialized in traffic studies to keep pace with the continuous expansion of infrastructure, road, and transport projects within the State of Kuwait, and the growing need for specialized engineering competencies in traffic studies. This move aims to support government and consulting entities in enhancing the professional efficiency of workers in the sector.

Al-Anzi mentioned that the council also approved adding a committee specialized in consulting contracts due to their importance in implementing and managing engineering projects, which require specialized expertise in contractual, technical, and legal aspects. This aligns with the continuous development in contract management and engineering claims methods, and aims to enhance the professional efficiency of engineers.

He added that approval was granted to launch and activate an electronic platform for the council, in line with the Kuwait Engineers Association’s direction toward digital transformation and developing services provided to engineers. He noted the completion of preparing an integrated system supporting digital transformation in processing transactions entirely, and managing all qualification and classification procedures electronically, thereby contributing to improving work efficiency, enhancing service quality, and accelerating transaction completion.

Al-Anzi pointed out that the council’s key performance indicators for last year confirm the completion of assigned tasks. Approximately 344 classification applications were received, with 309 approved: 5 consultants, 204 professional engineers, and 100 supervising engineers. Meanwhile, the number of failed classification applications did not exceed 30, with only 5 of those applicants failing to appear. He explained that the success rate reached approximately 89.8% according to these indicators.
