The Ministry of Islamic Affairs participates in the 14th meeting of the committee tasked with studying the presentation of the true image of Islam
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs participated in the 43rd meeting of the Standing Committee of Specialists on Islamic and Waqf Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, attended by the Acting Deputy Minister, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Suwailim, and representatives of the General Secretariat for Waqf Affairs, via video conferencing.
Following the meeting, Dr. Al-Suwailim told KUNA that the committee discussed several proposals, most notably those submitted by Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs regarding “the establishment of a national indicator for the societal impact of Waqf” and “the enhanced conceptual framework for presenting experiences in Islamic affairs.”
He added that the meeting also reviewed a proposal submitted by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance on Arab cultural dialogue between the East and the West, as well as follow-up on the implementation of joint work decisions and other emerging matters.
Dr. Al-Suwailim emphasized that the Ministry’s participation in this meeting reflects its commitment to supporting joint GCC efforts and contributing to initiatives and projects that enhance the impact of Waqf, keep pace with contemporary changes, and achieve the strategic objectives of GCC countries in this field.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs also participated in the 14th meeting of the committee tasked with highlighting the true image of Islam and countering campaigns of hatred, extremism, and sectarianism in GCC countries. The meeting was attended by Acting Deputy Minister Dr. Sulaiman Al-Suwailim via video conference.
Dr. Al-Suwailim told KUNA after the meeting that discussions centered on the “project to establish a GCC scientific observatory” and a working paper on “recent developments in countering deviant ideas.”
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to active participation in the work of specialized GCC committees, aiming to bolster joint efforts to present the true image of Islam, consolidate values of moderation and centrism, and confront extremism, hatred, and sectarianism, thereby contributing to strengthening intellectual security in GCC countries.
