Williams sisters compete in Cincinnati

American sisters Serena and Venus Williams will compete in the doubles draw at the Cincinnati Open, the final Grand Slam-level tournament before the US Open, after receiving wild-card entries. The sisters, who have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals, last played together in doubles at Flushing Meadows in 2022. They have been awarded wild cards for the hard-court event, with Venus also set to compete in the singles draw.

Meanwhile, American Taylor Fritz, ranked ninth in the world, claimed his first ATP Tour title of 2026 by defeating 19-year-old Spanish player Rafael Jodar 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the Washington Open final, which had been postponed due to rain. This marks his first title since winning at Eastbourne, England, last year.

In the women’s draw, Alexandra Eala capped off her remarkable run in Washington by defeating top-seeded American Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, becoming the first Filipino player to win a WTA Tour title.
