"A Memory That Never Fades": The Homeland in the Brushstrokes of Its Sons

The Kuwait Artists and Media Professionals Syndicate hosted the exhibition “An Unfading Memory” at its headquarters in the Shuwaikh area, coinciding with the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, reaffirming once again that art is capable of preserving national memory and transmitting it to future generations in a language that transcends words.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Syndicate President Dr. Nabil Al-Filakawi, with the participation of a group of visual artists, potters, and photographers who presented works that evoked the defining features of that pivotal period in Kuwait’s history, embodying through them the meanings of resilience, solidarity, and patriotism.

The exhibition featured visual artworks, ceramic pieces, sculptures, and photographs, presenting diverse artistic visions that converged on a single goal: keeping the details of that era present in the collective consciousness and embedding them in the memory of new generations.

Dr. Nabil Al-Filakawi emphasized that holding this exhibition stems from a national responsibility to document the events of the invasion, noting that art is one of the most impactful means of preserving history and recalling the human and patriotic experiences of Kuwaitis during that period.

The exhibition concluded with an honorific ceremony for the participating artists, in appreciation of their creative contributions that revived pages of national memory and affirmed that art will remain a witness to Kuwait’s history, carrying the nation’s stories from one generation to the next.
