The world's 10 richest people added $119 billion to their wealth in a single session
The world’s ten wealthiest individuals added approximately $118.9 billion to their fortunes in a single trading session, driven by strong gains in U.S. technology stocks. Tesla CEO Elon Musk led the gains, with his wealth increasing by about $35.7 billion during Monday’s session to reach $719 billion. Google co-founder Larry Page came in second with gains of $13.1 billion, followed by Oracle co-founder and chairman Larry Ellison, who added $12.5 billion to his wealth. Google co-founder Sergey Brin then added $12.1 billion, while Meta CEO and chairman Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth rose by approximately $11.5 billion.
Amazon founder and chairman Jeff Bezos also recorded daily gains of $11.1 billion, followed by Dell Technologies founder and CEO Michael Dell, who gained $7.69 billion. The list also included former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who added $7.37 billion, and NVIDIA co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang, with gains of $4.79 billion. Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of the luxury goods group LVMH, was the only non-technology figure and the sole non-American on the list, after his wealth increased by about $3.08 billion.
The figures highlight the dominance of the technology sector in global wealth creation, as nine of the ten billionaires on the list are associated with U.S. tech companies, with Arnault representing the sole representative of the luxury consumer goods sector. Moreover, nearly all the names are linked to companies leading the wave of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure, including Tesla, Google, Oracle, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.
Data indicate that the combined gains of the nine technology billionaires totaled approximately $115.9 billion in a single session, accounting for nearly 97% of the total gains of the top ten winners on Bloomberg’s list, underscoring the concentration of global wealth in major technology firms and their ability to add tens of billions of dollars to the fortunes of their founders and major shareholders in a single trading day.
