Fire Department Hosts Seminar on Electric Vehicle Safety

Under the patronage of Amir Zaki, with the General Fire Force Commander, Major General Talal Al-Roumi, and in the presence of the Force’s Deputy Commander for Technical Support and Services, Acting Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Qahtani, the Kuwait Fire Protection Association organized yesterday a seminar titled “Global Trends for Ensuring the Safety of Electric Vehicles,” held at the Civil Defense building of the General Fire Force.

Yousef Al-Ansari, Honorary Member and Advisor to the Kuwait Fire Protection Association, stated that raising public awareness and training across various government and civil sectors stem from a belief in the importance of prevention and fire protection, and from efforts to embed a safety culture as a way of life in society.

For his part, Adel Al-Nassar, President of the Kuwait Fire Protection Association, emphasized that the rapid expansion in the use of electric vehicles compels relevant authorities to strive for the highest levels of safety. He noted that this type of vehicle requires special conditions that differ from those of conventional vehicles, whether in charging mechanisms, storage, or handling accidents and fires.

The seminar aimed to keep pace with the rapid expansion in the use of electric vehicles by presenting the latest international standards related to their safety, raising awareness of potential risks and preventive measures, outlining safety requirements for charging stations, and discussing best practices for handling accidents and fires involving electric vehicles. It also sought to enhance cooperation among government entities, the private sector, and academic institutions to support the transition toward sustainable transport, and to achieve the highest levels of safety and protect lives and property.

The seminar was attended by several senior officials of the General Fire Force, along with representatives from military and civil entities.
