Egyptian Foreign Minister holds phone talks with his Saudi and Bahraini counterparts on regional developments and efforts to contain escalation

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held two phone calls with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani to discuss developments in regional affairs.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the call between the Egyptian foreign minister and his Saudi counterpart took place within the framework of ongoing consultations between the two countries regarding developments in the regional situation. The statement added that the two ministers discussed recent developments in the region and the efforts made to contain escalation and prevent the widening of tensions.

According to the statement, the two ministers emphasized the importance of an immediate halt to military escalation and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions as the optimal means of addressing regional crises. They also underscored the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to support regional security and stability and safeguard the interests of the countries and peoples of the region.

In a separate statement, the ministry said that Abdelatty held a phone call with the Bahraini foreign minister within the framework of continuous consultation and coordination between the two countries regarding bilateral relations and developments in the regional situation.

The statement added that the two ministers exchanged views on developments in the region and stressed the need to intensify efforts to contain tensions, prevent the spread of escalation, and work to create suitable conditions for resuming political and diplomatic tracks to resolve regional crises.

Both sides stressed the importance of respecting the rules of international law, safeguarding the security and safety of international navigation, and ensuring freedom of navigation in international waterways, thereby preserving the security and stability of the region. They agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between Egypt and Bahrain and building on the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations to contribute to enhancing joint Arab action.
