Qatari Prime Minister: Ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard regional security and enhance regional stability

The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held discussions with several of his Gulf counterparts on the latest regional developments. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that these talks took place during separate phone calls on Monday between the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and the United Arab Emirates’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan; Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Badr Al Busaidi; and Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

During the calls, the parties reviewed cooperative relations and the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region. The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized the necessity for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement the agreements reached under the framework of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard regional security, preserve achieved gains, and bolster regional stability. He reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that ensures lasting peace in the region.
