Ministry of Commerce: 411 cosmetics and 3,500 labels for altering expiry dates seized in a warehouse in the capital

Kuwait officials: Inspection teams from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry seized a warehouse in the Capital Governorate engaged in activities constituting commercial fraud, in the presence of the Capital Center’s head, Faisal Al-Jandal.

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Inspection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, stated that the campaign resulted in the seizure of 411 cosmetic and cream products, along with 3,500 labels (stickers) used to alter product data, replace original packaging, and modify expiration dates, thereby enabling their sale in the market with information contrary to their true nature.

He added that inspection teams found original packaging that had been removed and discarded in the trash within the facility, confirming that employees were repackaging products and altering their data with the intent to mislead consumers. Medical creams not licensed by the Ministry of Health were also seized.

Al-Ansari emphasized that these practices constitute forms of commercial fraud and violate Article (2), Clause (2) of Law No. (20) of 2019, which issues the Unified System for Combating Commercial Fraud for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He noted that an official seizure report was drawn up regarding the violation, and legal measures have been taken against the offenders.
