Al-Nafisi: Cultural clubs enhance learners' core skills and witness significant interest from parents

Dr. Khaled Al-Nafisi, director of the cultural center at Saleh Al-Shahab School, affiliated with the Hawalli Education Zone, confirmed that the idea behind the cultural clubs stems from the vision of Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, aimed at developing the educational process and supporting students’ academic achievement through specialized educational programs focusing on developing the core skills of students from the first grade of primary school up to the ninth grade of intermediate school.

Al-Nafisi stated that the center aims to enhance students’ academic level and prepare them for the upcoming school year, thereby contributing to raising their academic competence and consolidating core skills across various subjects. He expressed his hope that these programs would achieve their objectives in supporting students’ educational journeys.

He noted that the number of students enrolled in the cultural center at Saleh Al-Shahab School reached 428, highlighting that the strong interest from parents reflects their awareness of the importance of utilizing the summer vacation to develop their children’s abilities and strengthen their academic achievement in preparation for the new school year.

He clarified that the center’s administration had completed all preparations to welcome students, including equipping the school building and classrooms and providing a comprehensive educational environment. This also involved ensuring the readiness of smart boards and distributing approved educational materials according to plans prepared by the specialized technical guidance in each subject.

Al-Nafisi praised the Ministry of Education’s initiative to launch cultural clubs, affirming that they represent a qualitative addition to summer educational programs. He pointed out that the increasing interest from parents during the registration period reflects the success of the concept and the need to expand by opening similar cultural centers in various education zones, thereby enabling the largest possible segment of students to benefit from these programs.

For his part, English teacher at the center, Abdulaziz Hussein Al-Dhahab, confirmed that the educational cultural club aims to academically prepare students for the upcoming school stage by reviewing the knowledge and skills they acquired during the previous school year, thereby reinforcing them and better preparing them for the new year.

Al-Dhahab explained that English instruction relies on modern educational tools and interactive activities that encourage student participation and develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, in line with the teaching methods approved by the Ministry of Education.

He added that the program focuses on reviewing vocabulary and basic grammar, alongside training students to read and write texts correctly, which contributes to improving their proficiency in English and boosting their confidence in their abilities before the start of the new school year.
