27 school summer clubs offer free sports activities and debate and robotics programs

The Ministry of Education continues to implement its programs aimed at utilizing the summer vacation to develop learners’ capabilities and hone their skills by providing an integrated educational and recreational environment that combines benefit with enjoyment. This effort strengthens the role of student activities in shaping learners’ personalities, instilling values of creativity, initiative, and belonging, thereby contributing to the preparation of a generation equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to keep pace with future demands.

Summer evening school clubs aim to discover students’ talents, develop their skills, and enhance leadership and teamwork. They also work to reinforce positive values and make productive use of free time through diverse educational activities, providing a safe and motivating environment that fosters the development of students’ mental, physical, and social capacities.

In this context, Al-Anbaa visited the Capital Bowling Center and met with Dr. Mohammed Al-Amir, head of the summer club at the center, along with several trainers and participating students. The details follow:

At the outset, Dr. Mohammed Al-Amir, head of the summer club at the Capital Bowling Center, stated that summer school clubs are distributed across 27 locations in various educational districts. They offer a wide range of sports and educational activities, including football, basketball, and handball, alongside practical studies, scouting activities, robotics, and specialized programs for students with special needs. This ensures the interests of different age groups are met and provides learners with diverse opportunities to develop their skills and refine their talents.

Dr. Al-Amir added that registration for the summer clubs is available through the Ministry of Education’s website via the learner’s account on the Teams platform, or in person at the club’s location. Registration remains open until the end of the program on August 31. He noted that for the second consecutive year, the Ministry is organizing these summer activities, which run from Sunday to Thursday between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., allowing greater flexibility for learners and parents in registering and selecting programs and activities. He extended his thanks and appreciation to Minister of Education M. Syed Jalal Al-Tabtabaee for opening the second season of the summer clubs, enabling students to make the most of their free time.

He explained that the Capital Bowling Education Center aims to utilize students’ physical, mental, and cognitive abilities by teaching them the fundamentals of the game and imparting new skills. It also seeks to refine the talents of students with prior experience in the sport, thereby enhancing their athletic performance. The center is supervised by a select group of qualified national experts, including specialized trainers and players who hold academic qualifications and practical experience, ensuring the delivery of high-level training programs.

Approximately 190 students attend the center weekly. Dr. Al-Amir pointed out that registration remains open for those wishing to join the program, amid growing interest in the activities offered by the center.

Bowling is a sport that combines fun and competition, contributing to the development of physical and mental capabilities while enhancing students’ concentration and decision-making speed.

He noted that the center welcomes all Ministry of Education students from Sunday to Thursday, urging parents to encourage their children to enroll and benefit from its training programs, which provide opportunities to develop athletic and personal skills in a safe educational and nurturing environment.

For his part, Ali Al-Shawaf, a physical education teacher at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the Capital Bowling Education Center receives students from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., urging parents to encourage their children to enroll in the center due to the safe educational and training environment it provides, which contributes to developing their skills. Al-Shawaf explained that the training program begins by teaching students proper warm-up exercises, followed by familiarizing them with how to use bowling equipment and the mechanisms for handling it, with a strong emphasis on applying safety and security regulations from the very first session. Training follows a progressive curriculum that starts by imparting basic skills to participants before advancing to higher levels, enabling them to refine their technical abilities and achieve outstanding results.

For his part, Ali Al-Qattan, a coach at the Capital Bowling Center, noted that they teach students the fundamentals of bowling, such as how to hold, spin, and release the ball, along with all aspects related to the game. He praised the strong interest shown by “Education” students of all ages in learning the sport.

On his part, Abdulwahab Al-Shatti, supervisor at the Capital Bowling Center, mentioned the high demand from students, with attendance reaching approximately 30 students on some days. He commended parents for encouraging their children to learn the game and for their commitment to ensuring their children engage in activities during the summer period. This support has been facilitated by the Ministry during July and August, helping to develop students’ skills and enabling them to use their free time productively.

Al-Anbaa met with several students who praised the activities provided by the Ministry of Education during the summer.

Initially, Mohammed Abdulrasool, an eighth-grade student at Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari School, expressed his happiness with the excellent activities offered this year, adding, “The Ministry has provided several activities, but I chose bowling due to my great passion for it, and I was keen to participate to learn the basics of the game.”

For his part, Ali Al-Sabbagh, a ninth-grade student, said he is a fan of bowling and was keen to participate in this activity during the summer to make the most of his free time, extending his sincere thanks to the Ministry of Education for the outstanding summer clubs.

Hussein Al-Mutawa, an eighth-grade student at Amer bin Omar School, said he was very pleased with the school summer clubs organized by the Ministry during the summer period. He explained that he chose the bowling activity because he loves the game and has a desire to learn and practice its fundamentals.

Finally, Ali Abdullah, a ninth-grade student at Sulaiman Rabee Al-Mousawi School, noted that he was keen to join the bowling activity because he loves it greatly and had wanted to learn its basics, extending his sincere thanks to the Ministry of Education.
