Data from the Central Bank of Kuwait revealed that the number of valid bank cards issued by local banks reached 7.963 million by the end of June 2026.
The data indicated that the total number of valid bank cards rose by approximately 5.23% during the first half of 2026, following the addition of 396,200 new cards, compared to 7.566 million cards at the end of last year.
According to the data, the ratio of bank cards per capita in Kuwait amounted to 150 cards per 100 residents, noting that Kuwait’s population stood at 5.31 million at the end of the first half of 2026, according to the latest data issued by the Public Authority for Civil Information.
This ratio indicates that a wide segment of individuals holds more than one bank card, whether debit, credit, or prepaid cards, reflecting the diversity of banking services and the high level of use of digital financial tools in daily life.
