Bahrain's King Calls Egyptian President to Inquire About the Situation Following the Latest Earthquake

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the deep fraternal ties and robust paths of joint cooperation between the two nations, affirming their commitment to continuing and strengthening these relations in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and meets the aspirations of their peoples.

This came during a telephone call on Monday in which King Hamad spoke with President el-Sisi, inquiring about the situation in Egypt following the recent earthquake. He prayed to God Almighty to protect Egypt and its people from all harm and evil, and to perpetuate the blessings of security and stability upon the country, according to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

The agency stated that King Hamad emphasized during the call Bahrain’s solidarity and full support for the Arab Republic of Egypt during these circumstances. For his part, President el-Sisi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the King of Bahrain for the kind and noble sentiments he expressed toward Egypt and its people, which reflect the depth of the distinguished historical relations and ties binding the two countries. He wished the Kingdom of Bahrain and its noble people continued prosperity, progress, and flourishing under the wise leadership of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In this context, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that King Hamad began the call by expressing Bahrain’s solidarity and sincere wishes for Egypt following the earthquake that occurred early yesterday, reaffirming the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Egypt in facing challenges. For his part, President el-Sisi expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the King of Bahrain for the kind and noble sentiments he conveyed toward Egypt and its people, and highlighted Egypt’s pride, both in leadership and among its people, in the deep and strong fraternal relations with Bahrain. He pointed out the alignment of visions between the two countries regarding regional issues and crises, and the continuity of their joint efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.

President el-Sisi also reiterated Egypt’s enduring commitment to supporting and backing Bahrain on various fronts, fully condemning Iranian attacks on the Kingdom’s sovereignty and stability, and commending the wise Bahraini leadership for the measures it has taken to protect its security and safeguard the resources of its people.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy added that King Hamad bin Isa expressed his high appreciation for Egypt’s firm stance in supporting Bahrain and its solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in facing the challenges imposed by military operations in the region. He emphasized that the Kingdom is doing its utmost to achieve peace and reach a sustainable political settlement that preserves the sovereignty of Arab states and the interests of their peoples, stressing Egypt’s pivotal role at both the regional and international levels.

The official spokesperson clarified that the two leaders discussed developments in bilateral relations during the call, reaffirming the commitment of both governments to continue working on enhancing cooperation frameworks by implementing the outcomes of the Bahraini Crown Prince’s visit to Egypt in September 2025, as well as activating the outcomes of the second session of the Egyptian-Bahraini Governmental Committee for Economic, Commercial, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation, which was held in February 2025 in Manama, considered one of the main institutional frameworks for cooperation between the two countries.

In the same context, President el-Sisi praised the care afforded to the Egyptian community in Bahrain, affirming Egypt’s pride in the contributions of its nationals to the development process in the sister Kingdom.

Earlier, the Egyptian National Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research announced early today that stations of the National Earthquake Monitoring Network recorded an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, located 38 kilometers east of Suez, which is approximately 130 kilometers east of Cairo.
