The seventh edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptians Abroad, launched yesterday under the slogan “No matter how far we roam, Egypt brings us closer.”

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, delivered a recorded address during the opening session of the conference, which was inaugurated by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptians Abroad. The event was attended by a select group of ministers, officials, members of parliament, as well as representatives and members of Egyptian communities abroad.

At the outset of his speech, the Prime Minister said, “I am pleased to convey greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, who always takes pride in you as a cherished part of the Egyptian people, and commends the patriotic spirit and sense of belonging you demonstrate despite the distances.”

He added, “I am also delighted to meet with you today and speak to you, and through you, to millions of Egyptians abroad who prove every day the sincerity of their patriotism and their deep connection to their country and people. They embody the unique characteristics of the Egyptian personality among nations, in terms of belonging, love, and attachment to the homeland, regardless of the length of their absence.”

The Prime Minister also expressed his sincere appreciation to Egyptians abroad for their national role at all times, their close attention to all domestic affairs, and their responsiveness to the opportunities provided by the state to invest their savings and expertise in their homeland. He highlighted the government’s commitment to launching more opportunities, incentives, and facilitations to ensure that Egyptians abroad have their share and contribute to the renaissance, development, urbanization, and progress witnessed in Egypt.

Madbouly stated, “There is no doubt that you are aware of the events that have taken place in our region over the past months, which have had a direct impact on us in various fields. This crisis has led to a series of economic challenges that have affected us and many countries around the world, including disruptions in energy supplies, rising fuel prices, and increased global inflation rates, as well as their repercussions on tourism, transportation, insurance, and shipping costs. All of this has placed pressure on the global economy, resulting in downward revisions of international growth forecasts, particularly for the Middle East region, of which we are a part. Nevertheless, Egypt has managed to confront these challenges with minimal damage.”

He affirmed that there is now certainty that the economy will return to achieving positive indicators for the national economy, including employment rates, growth, declining unemployment and fiscal deficit, and improved exports.

He pointed out that Egyptians abroad were not immune to what was achieved in confronting the crisis, as their remittances and investments were among the most important sources of foreign exchange that supported the economy’s resilience. He assured them, “You are partners in the nation and partners in every achievement realized.”

The Prime Minister added, “In the broader context, Egypt continues its comprehensive development process across the country and in all aspects of life and the economy. Building human capital remains at the top of these priorities, with a focus on education and health, two sectors witnessing significant renaissance. This is complemented by industrial development, which is experiencing high growth rates across all modern industrial sectors, as well as expansion in agricultural and urban development. New communities have been established in many governorates to accommodate population growth, improve the quality of life for many citizens, and open avenues for economic growth, employment, and investment attraction.”

In conclusion of his speech, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly reiterated to Egyptians abroad the state’s interest in intensifying communication with them, providing all opportunities, facilitating services, and responding to their demands. He assured them, “You are a precious part of this great nation, for which we are honored to work.”

The conference, spanning two days, will discuss a number of important topics and themes, including the state’s policy for caring for Egyptians and its vision for Egyptians abroad, comprehensive development in Egypt and the role of Egyptians abroad, housing and urban development and available opportunities, healthcare for Egyptians abroad, as well as fiscal policies, facilitations, exemptions, and initiatives directed toward Egyptians abroad.
