Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Khalid Al-Ajmi affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression against Kuwait represents an eternal national milestone in the country’s history, recalling one of the most difficult periods Kuwait has endured, which demonstrated the cohesion and unity of its people, and cemented in the national consciousness that homelands whose citizens share a unified will and rally around their wise leadership are capable of overcoming challenges and shaping a future marked by greater security and stability.
Al-Ajmi stated that August 2 is not merely a date on which we remember the crime of aggression, but a recurring national occasion to recall the heroism of Kuwaiti sons and the sacrifices of martyrs, prisoners, and the missing, as well as their enduring stands in defense of the nation and its sovereignty. These sacrifices remain a beacon for successive generations and a testament to the fact that Kuwait was, and will remain, impervious to anyone attempting to undermine its security and independence.
He added that the Kuwaiti experience during the period of aggression proved that a nation’s strength is not measured solely by its capabilities, but by its firm national unity, wise leadership, and a populace loyal to its homeland. He noted that the Kuwaitis’ rallying around their political leadership at the time formed the foundation for preserving the state’s existence and reinforcing the justice of the Kuwaiti cause in international forums, ultimately leading to liberation and Kuwait’s return with heads held high, driven by the resolve of its sons and supported by brothers, friends, and the international community.
Al-Ajmi emphasized that Kuwait today continues its national journey with confidence and steadfastness under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect and care for them. They continue to lead the country on the firm national path established by the late leaders, a path based on consolidating the state of institutions, strengthening national unity, advancing development, safeguarding Kuwait’s security and stability, and reinforcing its esteemed status at both the regional and international levels.
He added that the political, developmental, and economic achievements realized since liberation reflect Kuwait’s ability to transform challenges into opportunities for accomplishment, thanks to the wisdom of its leadership and the loyalty of its people. This has made Kuwait a model to emulate in terms of security and stability, the consolidation of the rule of law and institutions, and the advancement of sustainable development.
Concluding his statement, Al-Ajmi reaffirmed that the anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression will remain a national occasion where the pledge to remain loyal to Kuwait and its leadership is renewed, and where the path that has preserved the nation’s security, unity, and dignity is followed. It is a time to draw upon national lessons that underscore the fact that the cohesion between leadership and the people is the safety valve and the cornerstone upon which Kuwait relies to continue its journey of construction and development and to enhance its standing among nations.
