Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef told KUNA on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression that this painful anniversary is not merely a recollection of a historical event, but a recurring national occasion to consolidate the values of national unity, loyalty, and belonging, and to draw lessons from a period that proved Kuwaitis stood as one man, united around their legitimate leadership and committed to their homeland despite the magnitude of challenges.

He added that the brutal Iraqi aggression on August 2, 1990, revealed to the world the true nature of the Kuwaiti people, highlighting their cohesion, unity, and belief in the justice of their cause, alongside the support Kuwait received from its brothers and friends until it regained its freedom and sovereignty.

He clarified that the international community’s support for Kuwait during the ordeal of the aggression was not a spontaneous reaction, but the result of a firm Kuwaiti approach based on moderation, respect for international law, and building balanced relations with various countries around the world. This approach contributed to the victory of Kuwait’s rights, the restoration of legitimacy, and the liberation of the country.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef pointed out that security personnel were at the forefront during the aggression period, fulfilling their national duty with courage and dedication, offering the finest examples of sacrifice and martyrdom alongside their brothers in the Armed Forces. Minister Al-Muwasharji prayed to God Almighty to perpetuate the blessings of security and safety upon the country under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah, the Prime Minister.

On his part, Minister of Justice Advisor Nasser Al-Samait said that the Kuwaiti people proved during the brutal Iraqi aggression that national unity and deep belief in the justice of the cause were Kuwait’s strong shield.

Advisor Al-Samait told KUNA: “We recall with appreciation and reverence the sacrifices of the noble martyrs and heroes of the resistance, and we remember that great national cohesion between the Kuwaiti people and their legitimate leadership, which wrote one of the noblest images of endurance and steadfastness in the face of truth.”

He prayed to God Almighty to have mercy on the martyrs of the homeland, and to protect the State of Kuwait and perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and stability under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of the Country Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled.

On his part, Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi aggression against the State of Kuwait represents an eternal national milestone during which Kuwaitis recall the sacrifices of the martyrs, prisoners, and missing, as well as the honorable deeds recorded by the Kuwaiti people in endurance, loyalty, and rallying around legitimate leadership in defense of the nation and its sovereignty.
