The Central Bank of Syria announced yesterday that the withdrawal of old Syrian currency and its exchange for new Syrian banknotes would be available for only one week, from yesterday until next Thursday, through all public and private banks and branches of the Syrian Post Organization across all Syrian governorates, with no commissions, fees, taxes, or expenses.
Through its official social media accounts, the bank stated that after this period ends, the process of exchanging old Syrian currency will continue for five years, exclusively through the bank’s headquarters in Damascus, by submitting withdrawal requests via the bank’s official website dedicated to the exchange process and appointment booking.
The bank had previously announced that the deadline for exchanging old banknotes expired on July 30, following a high completion rate in the exchange process.
