Abdulaziz Mandani: "Ayal Al-Osol" Series Off the Ramadan Schedule

Artist and producer Abdulaziz Mandani told Al-Anbaa that he is preparing to embark on a new dramatic experience through the series “Ayal Al-Osool,” noting that the work will be broadcast outside the Ramadan season and will consist of 10 episodes.

In addition, Mandani affirmed his passion for directing, which remains one of his interests, but he has chosen to postpone it for the time being due to his preoccupation with acting and producing. He explained that directing requires full dedication and intense focus, hinting that he has previously undertaken several directing experiences, including short films that won directing awards, as well as the plays “Sirat Watann” (Story of a Nation) and “Hubb Al-Awtan” (Love of Homelands). He confirmed that his return to the director’s chair will occur at the appropriate time when he finds a project worthy of such a step.

Regarding dramatic scripts, he stressed that a work’s success is not determined by whether it is traditional or contemporary, but rather by the quality of the writing. He clarified that any story can achieve success if presented with a new vision and a different style that attracts viewers.

He also addressed the entry of young people into the artistic field, emphasizing that gaining entry is not the real challenge; rather, the challenge lies in sustaining a career and building a name that commands public trust. He added, “Many can enter the field, but only a few succeed in maintaining their presence and leaving a genuine artistic footprint,” considering that carefully selecting roles to be the secret to longevity.

Furthermore, Mandani revealed the approach he strives to adopt in his acting, affirming that he does not merely alter a character’s appearance, but rather strives to create an entirely new persona through differences in performance, movement, voice, and even physical details. He considers this a significant challenge, although it sometimes prevents the audience from easily recognizing him due to the distinctiveness of the characters he portrays from one project to another. He emphasized that his true bet is not on constant visibility, but on delivering diverse works that leave an impression on the audience. He stressed that a true artist is one who can constantly reinvent himself and prove his presence in every role he undertakes.

When asked about the ongoing debate surrounding stage shows, Mandani responded: “This type of theater is not a product of today; it has existed globally for many years and has only recently reached the Gulf region, which is why some still treat it as a new experience.” He clarified that there is a difference between musical theater and stage shows, which rely on music, dance, and visual effects. He emphasized that the Kuwaiti theater scene still encompasses a variety of performance formats, whether comedic, fantasy, or stage shows, considering that the only genre currently lacking is political theater, which used to constitute an important part of the theatrical movement in the past.
