Oil Minister: Kuwait's production to rise to 2.676 million barrels per day in September

Oil Minister Tariq Al-Rumai confirmed that Kuwait continues to support the approach of consultation and coordination within the OPEC+ alliance through its subordinate committees, based on its conviction that collective action constitutes the fundamental pillar for maintaining oil market balance and responding flexibly to the changes witnessed by energy markets.

This statement came in a remark by Minister Al-Rumai, as reported in a statement from the Ministry of Oil following his chairing of Kuwait’s delegation to the meeting of the seven countries participating in the exit from the voluntary production cut agreement, and the 67th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), both held via video conferencing.

Al-Rumai renewed his confidence in OPEC+’s ability to respond to market changes in a way that supports supply security and global market stability, noting that the two meetings take place within the framework of continuous coordination among participating countries to follow up on developments in the oil market and assess supply and demand conditions, amid ongoing threats to strategic corridors for energy transport and in line with the acceleration of geopolitical changes.

He praised the decision of the seven countries to continue implementing the gradual exit path from voluntary cuts and to complete it by increasing total production by 188,000 barrels per day starting in September 2026. He emphasized that this decision aligns with the gradual and balanced approach adopted by participating countries, based on a precise reading of oil market indicators, and contributes to achieving a balance between supply and demand and supporting global market stability.

He clarified that Kuwait’s production will rise to 2.676 million barrels per day in September next year, reflecting Kuwait’s full commitment to the collective decisions issued by OPEC+ and their implementation according to approved timelines.

He added that with the completion of the exit from the voluntary cut agreement, consensus was reached to continue holding monthly meetings to monitor oil market conditions and energy security, and to adopt appropriate strategies, with the next meeting scheduled for Sunday, September 4, 2026.

The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting included, in addition to Minister Al-Rumai, Kuwait’s Governor to OPEC Mohammed Al-Shatti and Kuwait’s National Representative to OPEC Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
